Leonardo Marseglia again on the Italian Championship podium in the Ugento round

The tricolour season continues for Leonardo Marseglia, engaged in the home weekend on the Ugento track and author of a podium in Race 1.

After Franciacorta the ACI Karting season reopened on the Pista Salentina of Ugento for the first summer race of this year. A challenge for all KZ2 drivers on such a demanding layout as the Apulian circuit.

Starting from Friday’s qualifying, Leonardo had immediately found a good rhythm by setting the fourth best time, useful for starting from the second row in view of the two heats. Just in the direct confrontations, the performance of the KCS driver went up and up with a narrow victory in the first heat and a good pace in the second heat, subsequently slowed down by the slow puncture of the rear tyre, forcing him to the fourteenth final position.

On the Sunday dedicated to racing, Marseglia was able to take advantage of the sixth starting position to aspire to the top ranking. Beautiful comeback in Race 1 with three positions recovered up to the conquest of third place and the podium, a step away from second place. Third consecutive podium in the first three races held.
The second and final race of the weekend in Ugento could also have brought satisfaction to the Apulian kart driver, who was in full recovery after starting from the inverted grid and was subsequently involved in a race accident.

Despite the forced retirement in Race 2, Leonardo Marseglia currently occupies the third position in the overall standings with 84 points.
