Home ON THE SPOTLIGHT Hard fight, expected victory.

Leonardo Marseglia shown at the start of this season an increasing competitiveness. This brought to the the driver from Ostuni, Brindisi (I), his first victory of 2017 at Muro Leccese, home on the last week-end of the third round of the WSK Super Master Series. The success in the OK Junior category has come during one of the most important international karting events, attended by drivers from each of the 5 continents. Marseglia, at the wheel of his Zanardi-Parilla for the Chiesa Corse Team, has started well in the qualifying phase, winning once in the qualifying heats.

The Brit Harry Thompson was the toughest opponent of the fourteen-year-old driver, who avoided going into pre-finals in a counter-productive attack, in order to postpone the decisive attack to the Finals. In the final race, when they were two laps to go, Marseglia jumped over to Thompson, who however replied in a manner judged incorrectly by the Stewards. At the end of the race, the behaviour of Thompson was sanctioned with a 3″ penalty, which brought the success to Marseglia. The Thompson team has appealed, which will be judged later.

In the WSK Super Master Series provisional ranking Marseglia is now in second place, behind Andrea Rosso. The 65-point gap from the leader may be recovered at the concluding meeting of Sarno scheduled on 9th April.
