Leonardo Marseglia’s weekend in Ampfing didn’t take off

Started 35th in qualifying, Leonardo Marseglia recovered up to 22th in final on the twisty Ampfing Kartbahn.

Leonardo Marseglia fought hard and recovered positions, but it wasn’t enough to grab some championship points. The Apulian driver started the weekend with the 35th laptime in qualifying, only 5 tenths of second slower than the poleman! The circuit located near Munich is really technical and differences between drivers were minimum.

Throughout heats the Kart Republic driver recovered ten positions finishing 12th, 6th, 9th, 9th and 15th. These results gave him the grid #25 for the final race. After the starting light, Leonardo was involved in a tangle that pushed him down to 27th, forcing him to recover from the back of the field. Leonardo put his head down, but on this track is much more difficult to overtake and hopes for another incredible comeback vanished after a few laps. He did his best and the kart #122 finished on P22.

“I like this track, but overtaking here without taking some risks is so damn difficult! When the quality of drivers is so levelled, starting from the back is a real nightmare – comments Leonardo – I really wanted to recover some points lost at PFI, but in the final I did everything I could do! As usual I take this occasion to thank my team, my family and my sponsors. Hope to have a better weekend in Essay in August.”

Leonardo will be back on track next week for the WSK Open Cup at South Garda Karting in Lonato.
